As the name of this apartment implies, our two accommodations called “Il Granaio” and “L’Ovile” can be combined with an interior adjoining door to create a perfect apartment for up to 4 people. The portion of Il Granaio is located where the grain and farm tools were stored in the original farmhouse built in 1300. L’Ovile was originally a small, enclosed pen for small farm animals to feed and bed down. The thick walls and placement of this apartment within the farmhouse keep it cool and comfortable during the warm summer months.

Views from this apartment are of the panoramic valley looking towards Pienza. The two bedroom suites are spacious, and separated by the kitchen/living area. The large, fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious meals: an electric oven with stovetop, a travertine marble sink, toaster, microwave, electric tea kettle, and a large capacity refrigerator with freezer, and automatic dishwasher. The living area includes a dining table for four.

A comfortable loveseat faces a beautiful brick and stone fireplace that creates a charming, cozy atmosphere.

The country kitchen includes a cozy corner fireplace, a countertop area for food preparation, a “sofa for two”, and a large dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare and serve delicious meals: an electric oven with stovetop, a travertine marble sink, toaster, microwave, electric tea kettle, a large capacity refrigerator with freezer.

La Cantina was built and used for centuries to store the wine and to cure the hams (prosciutto) and strings of sausage (salsicce). Today it serves as Cretaiole’s perfect place to have peace and quiet, or for bringing a baby whose crying will not bother anyone else in the farmhouse. This cozy apartment has no apartment above it. It is conveniently located with two independent entrances, one that leads to the yard and garden, and the other that enters onto the interior courtyard.

It has a homey environment with a kitchen that is captured cleverly in a lighted, antique armoire complete with stovetop, and sink. An electric toaster, a tea kettle, and microwave oven make meals so easy. Once mealtime is over, the doors to the compact kitchen close and it transforms back into a beautiful piece of Italian furniture. This cozy little home includes a large refrigerator with dining table just the right size for a snack or meal, and a comfortable armchair.

An atmospheric fireplace at the foot of the queen-sized bed (convertible to two twin beds on request) will lull you to sleep with beautiful dreams.

This apartment is perfect for two people who want a cozy, romantic accommodation with a nice view overlooking the valley towards Pienza.

L’Ovile was originally a small, enclosed pen for small farm animals to feed and bed down. Today L’Ovile is a lovely guest room with en suite bath with a nice view towards the Val d’Orcia and Pienza. This room provides a beautiful way for a solo traveler, a couple on a budget, or two friends traveling together to enjoy the Tuscan countryside without the expense of renting kitchen facilities.

Although there is no separate kitchen or living area, the room’s amenities include a small refrigerator, toaster, microwave, electric moka coffeemaker, dinnerware for two, and basic cookware. Guests are welcome to use the outdoor grill and dine on the terrace or in the veranda.
